Biennial de Heeswijk June 1 until 17, 2012

Interart Sculpture Garden & Gallery organises in cooperation with The Castle Heeswijk from June 1 until 17, 2012 a Biennial d'Heeswijk. This Biennial connects a historic estate (Heeswijk Castle) and a modern estate (Interart & Sculpture Gallery) in a unique way with each other. "Culture and art are like vitamins. Its value is not trapped in taking huge amounts, but we can not do without. With this motivation Astrid and Dick and Rakhorst want to include culture, art and historical awareness accessible for everyone.
The choice of the theme of 'estates' is obvious. An estate is a historic house or castle, often with more buildings surrounded, which form an indivisible whole and harmonious with surrounding gardens and parks. Both Castle of Heeswijk and Interart Sculpture Garden & Gallery are somewhat hidden in the Land of Brabant between 's-Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven. The Castle of Heeswijk is the historic mansion, located behind mysterious tree lots and visible through large pastures. This medieval castle, the former water castle from the 11th century, after the most recent restoration is more characteristic and beautiful than ever before and shows itself depending on the light, again just like every season on the other side.

Interart Sculpture Garden & Gallery, a modern estate, manifests itself on the other side of the road on a former convex field with beautiful hedges, an herb garden, an Art Centre and a land-art project in the midst of modern art. The garden with its high biodiversity and amazing sightlines in itself is worth a visit. The international collection of statues surprises, inspires and fascinates. In the new Gallery, built from glass and wood, you can admire paintings. The connection between the historical and contemporary mansion is literally accomplished by two routes. From Interart & Sculpture Gallery, the visitor crosses to the beech avenue. Then you can make a soothing, but nonetheless intriguing walk to the castle. Highlighted through art, the walker is guided on his way. Conversely, from the castle, guests can also go to Interart. It is also possible to go by car up to 50 meters from the castle. The walk from this side to the castle is wonderful by the sight of the castle moat, the trees and the view of the castle. Beyond the castle, the walker can take the beech avenue to Interart sculpture Garden.
